SUPER EAGLES WINDER MOSES SCORES IS FIRST GOAL FOR STOCK CITY FC

altSUPER Eagles winger Victor Moses scored his first league goal of the season yesterday when his club Stoke City dropped two points a 2-2 draw with high flying West Ham yesterday in the English Premiership.

Starting off badly, West Ham fell behind to two early goals in the Britannia Stadium with Moses getting the curtain raiser in the 33rd minute. Mame Biram Diouf made it two for Stoke in the 56th minute but West Ham staged a dramatic comeback to score two goals in the 60th and 73rd minutes to secure a share of the points.

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes, said he was delighted to see Moses score his first league goal, particularly as it silenced the West Ham fans, who had been taunting him about his alleged diving. This is despite his disappointment at not securing all three points as his side squandered numerous more chances.

Mr Hughes added: “Good for him that he’s scored his first goal for us in the Premier League. I can’t criticise the guys too readily because overall it was a good performance."

This result led to West Ham dropping down the Premiership table by a spot into fifth place and left Stoke in 12th position. Stoke came into this match on the back of successive league and cup defeats by Southampton.

Moses, 23, is currently a Chelsea player but was acquired on a season-long loan by Stoke City. Chelsea had the option of selling him at the start of the season as several clubs led by Aston Villa were keen to buy the winger but the west London side decided not to let him go.

Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi will be delighted that Moses is back to his old goal-scoring form as this will be needed in Nigeria's forthcoming two African Nations Cup qualifiers. later this month, Nigeria faces Congo in Brazzaville and South Africa in Uyo and must win both games to qualify for Morocco 2015.
